We are Montgomery County’s Jazz Connection, a volunteer run 501c3 nonprofit, dedicated to providing the best Jazz education to students across the North Houston area
“What good is melody? What good is music?
It don’t mean a thing, if it ain’t got that swing…”
– Irving Mills/Duke Ellington
Creating Community
Our program is geared towards students that are interested in a comprehensive approach to jazz, swing, rock, R&B, and improvisation. We formed The Jazz Connection when our founder, Bob Price, began to notice that very few of the local schools had a working jazz ensemble. As a private music teacher with decades of experience, Bob had several students with the desire to explore various genres of music. He felt that giving them a place to further learn their instrument and build relationships with students from other schools would benefit them immensely.
The Jazz Connection explores all types of stage band material ranging from the 30’s and 40’s to present times including songs by Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, Gordon Goodwin, and Woody Herman.
We are a non-profit 501.C3 entity, with the purpose of giving outstanding student musicians exposure to a comprehensive jazz study curriculumand allowing them to reinvest their knowledge and talents through performances in the community.
